More than 1,61,000 palm leaf manuscripts have been surveyed and documented in 27 districts of Orissa, with the support of Norwegian Agency for Development (NORAD), upto April 2005.

Other Activities

Mural Workshops are held on conservation of art objects, archival material, palm leaf and paper manuscripts, etc for various interest groups including school children.

Training Courses are organized for curators, librarians, art conservators and custodians of manuscripts from India and abroad on preventive and curative conservation of palm leaf and paper Manuscripts.
Revived traditional style of mural paintings in Village Raghurajpur, and trained local people in the technique particularly descendents of traditional artists who had taken to other vocations for want of patronage.
Center provided local coordination support to different Departments of Government of Orissa and Department of Tourism, Government of India in socio-economic and infrastructural upgradation of Raghurajpur. Also helping the trained artisans in getting orders for executing traditional murals in homes as a part of decorations.

National Mission for Manuscripts Project: This Centre has been selected, for implementing at Bhubaneshwar and region around it, the project of National Mission for Manuscripts launched by the Department of Culture, Government of India. The Centre surveys, documents, the collections of Manuscripts in the region and educate the custodians and /or owners of such collections in the correct method of their proper upkeep, preventive conservation and minor curative conservation.
